Your camper’s Group Assignment & Counselors’ names will be available online and on your app prior to the start of camp. We will email you when you can view them by logging into your account.
June 27: 4 – 6 pm IF YOU HAVE A CAMPER(S) THAT WILL REQUIRE SPECIFIC MEDICAL, NUTRITIONAL OR PHYSICAL SUPERVISION, PLEASE ATTEND THIS MEETING ON THE ABOVE DATE. BRING WITH YOU ANY MEDICATION AND WRITTEN AND SIGNED SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL AS ANY OTHER INFORMATION THAT WILL BE NEEDED TO BE ADMINISTERED OR APPLIED AT CAMP. NOTE: MILL BASIN DAY CAMP RESERVES THE RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL FOR THE ADMINISTERING OF MEDICATION SHOULD THE MEDICAL STAFF DEEM IT AS BEING DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE TO DO IN THE CAMP SETTING
9:00 am – You may drop your camper beginning at 8:15 VERY IMPORTANT! Bringing your camper on time in the morning prior to 9:00 am is vitally important. They do not want to miss activities and we cannot stop an activity to bring a staff person to the office to pick up late campers. If you arrive past 9:00 am, you and your camper will have to wait until the next activity starts at 10:00 am.
Begins at 7:15 am (additional fee & you need to register for this. You cannot drop early without speaking to the camp office). Staff will be on hand with the campers at Early Drop Off. If you wish to send breakfast with your camper, you may do so. Camp staff wearing blue MBDC staff shirts will guide and direct you to your campers’ drop-off area for the first few days. On the first day, please drop your camper off to their staff and exit as quickly as you can once you have met your camper’s staff.
Please note the staggard dismissal schedule to ease the parking lot traffic flow. 3:30 for Pioneers camp unless older siblings in another division or are enrolled in late stay pick up. 4:00 pm for Adventures. Arrive at MBDC at 3:55 pm 4:10 pm For Stars: Arrive at MBDC at 4:05 pm 4:20 pm For Explorers & Teens: Arrive at MBDC at 4:15 pm If you have multiple campers to pick up, please arrive at the pickup time for your oldest camper. The group staff will remain with ALL campers until they have been picked up, so you don’t need to worry. Staff will be on hand to direct parents to their campers’ dismissal area. (Same as the drop morning drop-off area. ALL CAMPERS MUST BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN 4:30 PM UNLESS YOU ARE ENROLLED IN THE LATE STAY PICK-UP.
ONLY those people you designated as authorized to pick up your campers when you registered will be allowed to pick up your camper and be dismissed with them. Make sure to have your camper staff check you out before leaving with your camper(s). NOTE: If you need to add or change someone on your list or if you are sending someone just for a particular individual day, you MUST CALL, repeat MUST CALL the camp office to do this. You will be instructed as to what the person you are calling about needs to bring with them for identification. IMPORTANT: Emailing this request will not be accepted for safety and security reasons.
Picking Up Your Camper Early is no problem. However, you must call the camp office at least 30 minutes prior for this to happen. NOTE: After 3:30 pm, campers CANNOT be picked up early. They must remain until their regular dismissal time. If you need to pick them up early, this must happen prior to 3:30 pm. Note: Once you have made this request, you should receive a text confirming. If you think you received a text in error, please contact the camp office right away.
It ends at 6:15 pm (additional fee & you need to register for this). A light snack and drink is provided at the start of Late Stay. Campers will also be doing light activities (no swimming). When arriving at the camp to pick up your camper, you will be met by a staff member at the front door and we will call for your camper to be brought out to you and to be signed out. The same rules apply regarding AUTHORIZED PICKUPS. NOTE: If you need to add or change someone on your list or if you are sending someone just for a particular individual day, you MUST CALL, repeat MUST CALL the camp office to do this. Have your camper wear their MBDC Camp shirt! Camp shirts are also worn on picture days & special event days which will be announced on the MBDC APP. You will be directed as to where to bring your camper to their group when you arrive, please drop off your camper as quickly as possible so we can start the camp day.
Send a bathing suit and towel on EVERY DAY if your camper plans on going in the pool. NOTE: Sneakers and socks are an absolute must!. It promotes activity participation and helps with the health and safety of your campers’ feet and entire body. Sandals are not allowed. Pioneer campers should have 1 change of clothes to leave at the camp.
NO CELL PHONES OR ANY OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE EVER ALLOWED TO BE USED AT CAMP!THEY DISTRACT FROM THE CAMPER’S PARTICIPATION IN ACTIVITIES AND CAN BE USED FOR AN INVASION OF PRIVACY. PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS. IF YOUR CAMPER NEEDS TO CONTACT YOU, WE WILL ALWAYS PROVIDE THEM WITH A WAY TO DO SO. MILL BASIN DAY CAMP WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY LOST, DAMAGED, STOLEN OR INAPPROPRIATELY USED PHONE, ELECTRONIC DEVICE OR ANY UNALLOWED ITEM THAT IS BROUGHT TO CAMP.
THERE IS A SMALL SNACK BAR LOCATED IN THE LOBBY. PIONEER GROUPS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PURCHASE ITEMS FROM THE SNACK BAR. MILL BASIN DAY CAMP DOES NOT OWN THE SNACK BAR OR HAS ANY CONTROL OVER HOURS, PRODUCTS OR PRICES. A STAFF MEMBER FROM EACH GROUP IS ASSIGNED TO TAKE A LIST OF ITEMS CAMPERS WISH TO PURCHASE, GOES TO THE SNACK BAR, PURCHASES IT AND BRINGS IT TO THE CAMPER ALONG WITH CHANGE IF ANY. IF YOU ARE SENDING MONEY FOR SNACK BAR PURCHASES, FOR ADVENTURES AND STARS GROUPS, YOU PLACE THE MONEY IN AN ENVELOPE WITH YOUR CAMPER’S NAME ON IT, THE AMOUNT THAT IS IN THE ENVELOPE. FROM PRIOR YEARS WE RECOMMINED VERY SMALL BILLS. WE DO NOT HAVE A LIST OF ITEMS SINCE WE DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SNACK BAR. SENDING MONEY FOR THE SNACK BAR IS NOT REQUIRED. WE PROVIDE THE CAMPERS WITH LIGHT SNACK EACH DAY.
The menu will be available on the camp website or on your MBDC App prior to the start of camp. Lunch & Snacks are being provided to ALL campers. Camper can also bring lunch and snacks with them on a daily basis if they wish. Outside food is not allowed to be delivered, so there will be no ordering from outside vendors. If you are sending lunch, it should be non-perishable items that do not need to be heated. Lunch boxes will remain in the camper’s bags until lunchtime. Water Only will be served with lunch and snack time. You will receive an MBDC water bottle that you can fill with your campers’ favorite beverage (we suggest water only so that it can be refilled at our water fountains). NOTE: If your camper has food or any other allergy, please provide that information to us by emailing, calling and attending the Medical Night listed above.
Swimming is part of every day’s activities for ALL campers. Every camper will have a swimming evaluation test, INCLUDING CAMPERS IN TEEN QUEST CAMP. After they have been evaluated prior to entering the pool they will be given a colored bracelet designating their abilities and in what section they will be allowed to swim. FLOTATION DEVICES OF ANY KIND ARE NOT ALLOWED! PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM ALONG They will be supervised by lifeguards and staff both in and out of the water. Swim instruction: will be provided on a very limited basis to beginners only if they agree to take the swim test. Those who don’t will not be allowed to swim. Campers will only be swimming with campers their own age and swimming ability. Apply suntan lotion at home! We prefer your camper wear or bring a swim shirt. Send suntan spray in your camper’s bag so it can be re-applied. Here is an example of a swim shirt: Swim Shirt For Campers We also suggest you send them along with water shoes, crocs or flip-flops. Do not buy expensive ones and MARK EVERYTHING, INCLUDING TOWELS, WITH YOUR CAMPERS FULL NAME AND GROUP ASSIGNMENT!
Every camper has an activity schedule for the entire summer. It is structured according to their age, gender, and individual camp division. We schedule both indoor and outdoor activities and try to stagger them as much as possible. All indoor facilities are climate-controlled. All activities, including swimming, are about 45 minutes in length. NOTE: SPECIAL EVENTS AND SHOWS AND BAD WEATHER DAYS SUCH AS RAIN WILL NECESSITATE CHANGING THE SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY. All activities including swimming are modified when needed to account for the weather. Encourage your camper to participate in ALL the activities. Don’t worry if your camper isn’t in the mood, we always have staff that can find something to do with them, but remember they will always be with their groups at all times.
Alcohol and Drugs – MBDC prohibits the possession or use of alcohol, tobacco and non-prescription drugs. Sexual Harassment & Behavior – MBDC intends to provide an environment free of sexual harassment for all members of the camp community. Inappropriate behavior includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, pressure for sexual activity, demeaning sexual propositions, exposing oneself, making sexually explicit or suggestive remarks about another person, sexually oriented jokes or personal questions, and other verbal content or physical contact that results in an individual feeling uncomfortable or threatened; Verbal, Emotional and Physical Harassment or Bullying – by any staff member or camper will not be tolerated. Behavior that constitutes harassment and bullying includes comments that are demeaning with respect to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, color or disability, hazing, stalking, or other intimidating conduct; uninvited or unwanted physical conduct (e.g. hitting, grabbing, pushing, and pinching); pressuring others to perform demeaning, humiliating or dangerous acts. Inappropriate Language – All members of the community are prohibited from using profane and/or vulgar language Personal Presentation – All members of the community are expected to maintain commonly accepted standards for appropriate dress. Overly revealing clothing, or clothing containing inappropriate pictures, language, symbols or suggestions is disallowed and will be confiscated until the end of the session. Boundaries – Campers may not leave the camp property except with their parent(s) or guardian(s), authorized persons or with written permission from those people and approved by MBDC. Unsupervised departure from strictly prohibited and can result in permanent dismissal from MBDC. All the items listed above apply to all campers, families and staff. Exhibiting or performing any of the behaviors or actions above can lead to suspension or cancellation of camp enrollment with NO REFUNDS MADE, termination of Employment and if necessary appropriate law enforcement departments contacted.
IMPORTANT! CHECK YOUR EMAIL AND MBDC APP DAILY FOR CAMP INFORMATION AND UPDATES. REMEMBER TO ALSO CHECK YOUR SPAM/JUNK FOLDER. Let us know if your email changes and/or you stop receiving emails for any reason. We will also be using texts as part of our communication. Please log into your account to ensure we have your correct cell phone information. NOTE: Mill Basin Day Camp uses a texting program to communicate with staff during the day to pass along important messages, notes and updated information. Staff can refer back to these messages at times in order to have correct and timely information regarding your camper and camp activities.
When calling the camp office, please make sure to give your full name, your camper’s name and their group. This is for the safety and security of your camper. MILL BASIN DAY CAMP STAFF CAN NOT AND WILL NOT SPEAK WITH ANYONE NOT PROVIDING THIS INFORMATION. The camp office staff can help you in almost all cases. Please provide them with all the information you have or that you need to get the correct information or to get the message to the right person. NOTE: Camp directorial staff will not be coming to the phone during the day as they will be busy with camp programming unless they are answering a return call that they made to you. Other calls that need to be returned will be done after the camp day has ended or as soon as it is possible to do so. |
